In celebration of Indigenous Peoples Day, the Office of Indigenous education hosted events online using Zoom daily from June 15-19. The sessions included: Storytelling with Marny Point and Cara-Lyn Morgan, Tea with Elders: Verna Kirkness, Larry Grant, Mary-Jane Joe and Swelímeltxw and Siyamtelot (Rudy and Shirley Leon) Beading with Dena Leon and Kaiahtenhtas Thompson, Bannock making with Chett Monague, and Sharing Song and Art with Wenonah Justin.
We were joined by UBC staff, faculty, students, and community members, as well as teachers in the province. This week brought together both Indigenous and non-indigenous people to celebrate Indigenous culture, story, song, and more. Thank you to all who participated, and joined the celebration!
